Session 1.1 - Rethinking Federal Hiring
Monday, July 11 • 9:15 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
A year after President Obama issued his executive order on hiring reform, OPM has succeeded in reforming many aspects of the hiring process, including shortening the hiring process to 80 days. But many observers say changing the process isn’t enough. For reform to truly take hold, the administration needs to make more holistic changes, including improvements to job-placement, on-boarding, and retention tools. How can federal managers make good hiring practices a top priority for agency leadership? What are the best ways to match quality candidates with appropriate job openings? What should revamped on-boarding programs look like? Join us to learn how federal agencies can hire smarter—not just faster.
